    Is Marathon down right now?
    Check the live indicator at the top. MarathonStatus polls Bungie's servers every 30 seconds. If all three platforms show green, Marathon is operational. Connection trouble despite a green status is usually a local network issue — try restarting your router and the game.
    Why can't I connect to Marathon servers?
    Common causes: Bungie server outage (check this page), lapsed subscription (PS Plus on PS5, Xbox subscription on Xbox), BattlEye blocked on PC (add firewall exception), or local internet issues.     What is Error Code CAT in Marathon?
    Error Code CAT means you've been disconnected due to server-side maintenance. Check this page or @BungieHelp for when maintenance is expected to end.

    What is Marathon Season 1?
    Season 1 is titled "Death Is the First Step" and launched March 5, 2026. It includes three zones at launch, six Runner shells, six factions, and 28 weapons.     Do I lose everything when a new season starts?
    Gear, contract progression, faction progression, and player level reset each season (~3 months). Cosmetics (earned and purchased), titles, achievements, Codex progress, and liaison contracts carry over permanently. Full reset details →
    Is seasonal content free?
    Yes. All seasonal updates — new zones, Runner shells, gear, events, and modes — are free for every player. No expansions or DLC required. Cosmetics remain optional purchases with no gameplay advantage.
    What is Cryo Archive?
    Marathon's first end-game zone, set aboard the derelict UESC Marathon ship. Features close-quarters combat, raid-like security puzzles, and a powerful new enemy. Unlocks mid-March once the community collectively finds a way into orbit — not available at day one launch.

    What type of game is Marathon?
    First-person PvPvE extraction shooter. Squads of up to 3 drop onto Tau Ceti IV, scavenge gear, fight AI and rival players, and race to extract. Death means losing your loot.
    Does Marathon have solo play?
    Yes — solo queue with proximity chat. Rook is a special free-loadout Runner for dropping into in-progress matches with nothing to lose.

    BattlEye — kernel-level on PC. Requires admin access. Add an exception in your antivirus if you have issues connecting. Linux and Steam Deck are not supported due to BattlEye blocking Proton.
